Body Shop - Frequently Asked Questions

-What are your business hours?
We are open from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.

-When can get an estimate?
We write estimates by appointment from 8am to 12pm and from 1pm to 4pm. Please call for an appointment.

-How long does it take to write an estimate?
It normally takes between 15-20 minutes to write an estimate.

-I have an insurance estimate; do I need another from Varsity?
If you already have an estimate from an insurance company, you do not need Varsity to write another estimate. We will work from the insurance estimate and if there is any additional work that needs to be done, we will contact the adjuster.

-How long is your work guaranteed for?
We have a limited lifetime guarantee on our workmanship. Click to download a copy of our guarantee. <.pdf>

-Who authorizes the repairs of my vehicle?
Though the insurance company can authorize payment for a claim, only the owner of the vehicle can authorize for the repairs to be done. Click to download a copy of our authorization form <.pdf> This form may be signed in person or faxed to the body shop (410) 788-0678.

-What is a Direct Repair Program?
Many insurance companies have Direct Repair programs. Varsity participates in several of these programs. With these programs, the body shop writes the estimate for the insurance company and does not have to wait for an insurance adjuster to look at the vehicle before starting repairs. If there is additional damage found, the body shop again does not have to wait for an insurance adjuster to authorize the work. The body shop collects the customer’s deductible (if applicable) and is paid directly from the insurance company once repairs are completed. The customer does not have to wait for a check.

-How long will it take to repair my vehicle?
There are many variables to consider in determining how long we will have your vehicle. Once we see the vehicle and/or the estimate, we can give you a better idea of repair time.

-What is your payment policy?
Varsity Auto does not accept personal checks. Varsity Auto will accept checks issued by the insurance company, credit cards, debit cards, money orders, cashier’s checks or cash.

-What are Aftermarket (A/M) parts? LKQ? OEM? Reconditioned?
Aftermarket parts are parts that are designed and manufactured by a company other than the original vehicle manufacturer. These parts are also referred to as Quality Replacement Parts.

Like Kind & Quality (LKQ) are parts that are taken from another vehicle from a salvage yard. These parts are also referred to as Used Parts or Quality Recycled Parts.

Original Equipment from the Manufacturer (OEM) parts are parts that come directly from the original manufacturer (eg. - Toyota, Honda, etc.)

Reconditioned (or Rebuilt) parts may be over-run parts purchased by another company or, most likely, slightly damaged (or blemished) OEM parts that have been repaired or rebuilt with new parts.

-What should I bring with me to the shop?
If you already have an insurance estimate, please bring a copy of that estimate.

If you do not already have an estimate, please make sure to bring any insurance information that you have:
  • Name of Insurance Company
  • Claim Number and/or Policy Number
  • Contact Information for Insurance Company (Phone & Fax Numbers)

-How do I get a rental car?
If you have rental coverage on your insurance policy, please contact your insurance company (or the insurance company handling your claim) for how to proceed as each company has slightly different ways of handling rental cars. Once that is determined, Varsity can help with giving you contact information to local rental agencies. Whoever is renting the vehicle should call in advance of the repair appointment date to make sure that a rental vehicle will be available. Most rental companies will need any or all of the following:
  • Driver’s license
  • Insurance card
  • Claim information
  • Reservation or confirmation number
  • Valid credit card or check/money order for security deposit
